OUR STORY
About Sarah & Richard
After several years being a primary school teacher I decided to take a break and travel around the world for a few years to help decide what I would like to do next.
Working my way around in restaurants and cafes, on my return to London finally, a cafe to own and run felt like the most natural thing to do.
After much discussions with family and my brother-in-law, Richard, who has a love of food and is always first in the kitchen to cook meals for the family, we decided to start looking for a cafe to run together. We were regular customers in HPJ Cafe, so when we saw it was up for sale we went for it. Hot Pepper Jelly Cafe was always a fun place to go to, the food is great, the atmosphere is relaxed and we loved it. We took over the cafe last August in 2015.
What we love about running the cafe?
The friendly customers, their loyalty and their conversations. We love creating fun menus whilst maintaining the infamous Hot Pepper Jelly specials. Sarah loves baking so all our cakes, biscuits, cookies, flapjacks and brownies are homemade from the heart. We feel like we cater easily for the local community and we can meet all dietary requirements, it's never a problem to prepare custom-made foods tailored to your taste and appetite.
We are all involved in all parts of running the restaurant: both front of house, like serving our guests and back of house, like cooking in the kitchen and we love this.
But above all it's our customers we love the most:
they are what make Hot Pepper Jelly Cafe running so great!
